Also Known as 'Student Models'
Although most of our creations are made using violin making techniques, and are archtops...
We also make some flat tops. Raven has been teaching Ukulele building out of his shop, so he builds a few along with the students to demonstrate techniques. These are made quickly, with only a few refinements... they take about a week to complete. Oops! My students will be jealous... they take their time for 8 weeks.
They use much less wood than my archtops, take less time, but are much more affordable; making them a perfect choice for many.
Typical student models are made of nice Koa back and sides, with either a Mahogany or Australian Red Cedar neck. They employ Gotoh Tuners at 14:1 gear ratio, a Zero fret for trouble free tuning, and do not come with a pickup for plugging into an amp.
Top Woods can run the gamut between Port Orford Cedar, reclaimed Redwood, Sitka Spruce from Alaska, and several others.

They won't have a fancy inlayed Logo on the headstock, no inlay dots for others to see, just fret indicator dots for the player.
All will be made of real hardwoods, not plywood and veneer, and will have a very nice finish of good quality Lacquer, and a good quality case. They compare very favorably with other mid range hand made Koa ukuleles. As you may know, a top shelf Koa uke can sell for 6 to $8,000, and more. It's not unusual!
Pricing will be about $600 for softer tops,
$700 for Koa tops. (Ukes without any Koa would be $200 less expensive)
Shipping, Tax, and Insurance allowances were Not Included...
Please inquire for a more specific quote for shipping to your area, and several views of the instrument that you are interested in. It's best to know exactly what you are buying, and Gallery views of Student Models are not prepared at the present time.

These pictures represent a nice group of four, presently available. One is all Koa; the others have Cedar, Redwood, or Sitka tops. Each will have it's own character, weight, and sound.
All are 'Tap Tuned' to maximize both volume and tone... they are not simply thrown together.
In fact, don't get the feeling that I put less care into them, so much as, less time. I do my very best with each. Yet, to keep costs down, Time is the most important factor. And truthfully, as an artist, my joy and devotion is in my archtops... they are my main focus.
